What's going on with you guys?

Many of you may have noticed that things have rather slowed down around here. As of January we had yet to release Kate Hall's book Suspended, and the hoped-for summer reading series didn't come to pass. So, a bit of an update is probably in order.

This year marks the initial stages of a rather comprehensive transformation for us, which will see Greenboathouse Books begin to re-emerge as Greenboathouse Press. 2007 was a year of big moves for both Jason and Aaron: earlier this spring Jason (& Jody) packed up and moved from Victoria back to Vernon, buying a house along the way, while Aaron returned to Vancouver after a year of grad-school in New York City.

15-21

As of January a new studio, which will, this spring, house our Vandercook 15-21 flatbed cyllinder press, has been completed in Jason’s backyard. The press will be set up in May and the first months of experimentation and practice will frustrate, delight, and, no doubt, eat up most of 2008. During this time we will also produce and publish the last Greenboathouse book, Jay Millar’s Wood Pages, to be realeased sometime early next year. It will be our last digital production.

2008, then, will be spent getting to know the press, investing in a few good metal faces, and planning our first letterpress projects, which is a roundabout way of saying we won’t be publishing anything after Jay’s book for at least a year. During this time, Greenboathouse Books will be dismantled entirely. While this may sound forboding, it is, in fact, an exciting time as we wipe the slate clean and prepare to begin again with fresh ink and good paper.

But first, two more books to go...
