2008 Small- & Fine-Press Book Exhibit

Curated, designed and introduced by Jason Dewinetz & kevin mcpherson eckhoff, the 2008 book exhibit had a number of goals: first, with the academic term winding up, kevin and I wanted to show off some of our collections for our students, to get them enthused about handmade books, and to expose them to some of the interesting things small- and fine-press publishers from across Canada and the US are up to. Along with the entertainment and educational benefits, we were also attempting to stir up enough interest for those same students to stick around the Okanagan, and to sign up for the new Diploma in Writing & Publishing to be offered at Okanagan College in the fall. Thirdly, it was an opportunity to invite the general pubic to come in from the freak snowstorm that had hit Vernon in late April, and to listen to kevin and I talk none too eagerly about the ins-and-outs of micro-press publishing, and to enjoy a humble yet dynamic collection of books.
