Just finishing up the black for JonArno Lawson's book, to move onto the second colour in the next few days. My first attempt at printing 4 pages per sheet, this project has involved some trial and error, as my math skills apparently aren't up to snuff. Still, it's been a pleasure printing onto the Arches Johannot, an absolutely lovely paper to the touch, and it takes a mean impression without much show-through. More info on the book can be found here.

Printing the colophon from polymer. Ah, yes, this month also brought some new ink on the body as well...
I swear, I wasn't even looking. A friend called the other day to tell me about a scrap dealer who was reluctant about scrapping an old printing press, but wanted to see it put to use, and could I do anything with it. Well, there's a lot that will have to be done to it, beginning with a full stripping, scraping, cleaning, painting, &, etc. The press is a 1912 Chandler & Price 14.5" ×22" Old Style, and, while it's missing rollers and a few other bits, it came with two chases and a working counter. For the moment it's going to live in my driveway while I begin to strip it down, but will, later this summer, find its way up to the college, where, come September, my students and I can work on it throughout the academic year to get it restored.
